Australian citizens are able to enter New Zealand and work for an indefinite period without needing to apply for a work permit. This also includes any person who has permanent residency in Australia, and holds a current resident return visa issued by the government of Australia.

Citizens of all other countries who wish to work in New Zealand must apply in advance to their nearest High Commission or the nearest regional New Zealand Immigration Office.
